Majestic
aspens in the Rockies, a New Mexico sunset, an Indian
pueblo, a rustic old building on the backroads of Texas
and Arkansas -- these are some of the subjects one will
find in the artistic creations of J.
Taylor.
Born
in South Texas, J.
Taylor
(aka, Jodie Taylor) has traveled extensively through
the Southwest and his work is an expression of love
for the natural beauty of the area and its cultures.
Now living in NW Arkansas, he loves to paint the old
barns and vivid colors of Spring and Fall in the Ozarks,
reflecting yet another American culture.
His
serious attention to painting began in 1986 with watercolor.
Ten years later, he worked with acrylic and oil, but
since 2001 his passion has been pastel. When asked,
J.
Taylor
says, "I work primarily from photographs I have
taken, so I have a feel
for the scene. I use this for a starting point, but
then paint my own vision. Creative art, in my opinion,
is not an exact replica of the scene -- only GOD's
creation is perfect. When I walk into my studio, the
vividly colored sticks seem to call to me and I feel
that I am guided by a divine power. To acknowledge this,
I place a small cross in the lower half of each of my
pastel paintings."
J.
Taylor
is a juried member of the Degas Pastel Society (New
Orleans, LA) and Coppini Academy of Fine Arts (San Antonio,
TX) as well as maintaining memberships in numerous art
groups in CA, NM, and AR. His works have been accepted
in state, regional, national and international shows,
and he is a national show award winner.
Original
works, limited edition prints, and gicleés are available.
